Client: TAFE project
The brief for this project was fairly open ended. We simply needed to create a packaging design for any product we chose. While grocery shopping I noticed that there are very few environmentally friendly washing powders. I also noticed that the few there are use very similar principles in their design; greens and other clean feeling colours. Also, they often have a recycled paper look to them. I decided to veer from this path and design a funky looking packaging for this niche product. I took photographs of the shelves in the washing powder aisle to get a feel of what would stand out in the sea of pink, green purple and blue. I also decided to tap in to the trend for all things vintage. I combined these ideas with using a tin that is easily refillable and a tongue in cheek approach and I arrived at this design.
