New site on the way!! Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 June 2010 21:33

It's been a long time coming but I finally had the time to redesign my site. Here's a sneak peak below.

New Paper to Pixels site

This site as it stands now was only ever built as an interim fix until I had enough time to do something that was more about me and who I am as a designer.

This new design is much cleaner and more fitting with my style. The black area in the middle is for showcasing my recent work. The arrows either side allow you to browse through the individual pieces (with some spiffy jQuery sliding!). There will be a brief description about each with a link back to this blog for the full write up.

As for the future of this blog...well I plan to write about more than just my recent work. I'll blog about whatever I feel like. It might be about a piece of design I liked, an ad I liked, tutorials, anything really!

I'm excited and I can't wait until it's live!

Little Dreamers website Print E-mail

I saw these guys on 9am one morning and liked the sound of their charity. I checked their website and saw they didn't have one yet an so I offered to build one for them as a donation to the charity. Little Dreamers is run by three young adults and is a charity to help the siblings of seriously ill children. The children that often feel a little forgotten because their parents are busy looking after their ill child.

This site was fun to design and actually came together very quickly. I particularly like the fairy and her trail of fairy dust

Zoos SA Intranet Print E-mail

Zoos SA (Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo) needed an intranet for their staff. They wanted to make sure staff were kept in the loop with what's going on in the zoo (events, planning, construction, policies and procedures, etc). I set about designing this based on the Zoos SA style guide (fonts and colours). I wanted to incorporate the environment/conservation component of the organisation. Afterall that's what their about. I also wanted to show the contrast between the properties; Adelaide Zoo is lush and green while Monarto Zoo is quite dry and arid feeling.

Here's what I came up with.

Westpac Envirodome Print E-mail

Zoos SA have just opened up the Westpac Envirodome interactive conservation centre to the public. Also coinciding with this was the launch of the website. The Envirodome website needed to represent the look and feel of the centre itself. This was a bit of an uphill battle this one as I needed to develop it in Web Template which is a proprietary CMS owned by Bridgehead. I had no documentation and no one to help me ($75 for a help desk call to Bridgehead = don't call unless you're desperate). This site has a cool little Flash banner on the home page. Make sure you run your mouse over some of the animals in the banner for a little treat! Smile

Ceramic World website redesign Print E-mail

This one was also done a while back now. I had been maintaining the Ceramic World website when they approached me to do a redesign. They wanted a more modern, and sleek looking design. This site incorporates two flash slideshows. One on the home page and an interactive one on the 'Concepts' page.
